Several religious congregations in Westport came together Friday for a community reception to celebrate the holidays.
Volunteers at the Westport Community Reception say the luncheon at the Saugatuck Congregational Church has been a tradition for more than two decades. They say it's a way to stamp out loneliness on the holiday, regardless of faith.
Organizers say having churches and a temple co-sponsor the event also promotes connection in the community.
People who attended the event got to enjoy a light lunch and Christmas music.
Organizers say the event is hosted annually on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The free event was open to the public.
