The all-Democratic Connecticut delegation officially welcomed the newly elected Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th District) Wednesday on Capitol Hill.
Himes arrived in the nation?s capital to begin a weeklong orientation with 50 other freshmen members of Congress. He says he is excited to be in Washington, but also intimidated.
In the course of the orientation, Himes and his colleagues will learn, among other things, how to move legislation forward and how to speak on the floor of the House.
Himes says it is a lot of information to take in, but he wants to be ready to get down to business come January.
The congressman says he will receive his committee assignments next month. He will be sworn in Jan.5.
