A special corps of female volunteers from Habitat for Humanity is working to renovate 12 row houses in Park City.

The nonprofit housing organization says the project will spruce up a dozen 1890s homes in the William Street District, while spotlighting the women who frequently contribute to rebuilding local communities. Habitat says dozens of women from southwestern Connecticut are volunteering with the project.

"It makes me feel so proud that I was a part of this, that I was a part of giving a family a new life," Eileen Bakos, of Habitat for Humanity, says.

Volunteers say the historic row houses will be made into affordable housing units that will be ready for families to move in by the end of the year.
