Shopping in southwestern Connecticut got a little cheaper Sunday with the start of the annual tax-free week.
The state estimates it loses about $3.6 million in revenue when it drops the 6 percent tax on clothing and shoes under $300. However, many consumers say they shop more when items are tax free.
Carol Farrell says she waited until this week to do back-to-school shopping for her two fashion-conscious daughters. Farrell and other parents say they appreciate the break to their wallets.
