Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, a day when the world witnessed the tragic events at the World Trade Center in New York, the attack on the Pentagon in the Washington, D.C. area, and the downing of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

In Greenwich, residents gathered at Cos Cob Park for a ceremony at the 9/11 memorial.

Over 100 members of the community, first responders, and elected officials, including Gov. Ned Lamont, attended.

The ceremony commenced at 8:46, coinciding with the time the North Tower was hit.

The names of the 32 Greenwich victims were read, and an honor guard was standing at attention until 10:28 am, the time the North Tower collapsed.

Following the ceremony, the honor guard led guests to the waterside pavilion, where flowers were laid at the base of the memorial.
