NWS Alerts: Coastal Flood Advisory until 2 a.m. Saturday
Forecast:
We finally got some much-needed rain yesterday, and a few lingering showers this morning might make for a soggy and slow commute. But hang in there! Conditions will start improving as we head through the morning, with skies clearing and things drying out.
This afternoon, temperatures will only reach the low 70s, still running cooler than our typical late-August average of 82 degrees. And it looks like that cooler trend may stick around to close out the month.
One reason? Hurricane Erin. Even though she’s staying well offshore, her wide wind field is helping to pull down cooler Canadian air and keeping skies a bit cloudier across Connecticut.
Because of Erin, a coastal flood advisory is in effect through the weekend. High tide could be a concern, especially since we’re approaching a new moon which tends to push tides a little higher than usual.
Minor to moderate flooding is possible during high tide cycles, especially through Friday morning.
Thursday: AM spot shower. Sun and clouds. Breezy. Highs near 77.
Friday: Mostly cloudy. Highs near 81.
Saturday: Partly sunny.. Highs near 82.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy. Showers. Highs near 81.
