Workers began to dismantle the crane that scales the troubled Trump Parc tower in Stamford Sunday, almost four months after it was erected.

Four times in as many months debris has fallen from the 36-story tower, which is under construction. The first incident took place in May when a piece of metal fell onto the roof of a water delivery truck. Two weeks later, debris shattered the roof of a car.

In July, a 3-inch piece of metal smashed a window at UConn Stamford, prompting the shutdown of construction and an inspection of the site. On Aug. 2, a 6-foot-long piece of wood fell from the 27th floor of the tower and hit a truck.

Many people in the area say the crane is one less thing they will have to worry about. John Barden, who drives by the building on his way to work, is glad the crane is finally being removed. Barden says he always wonders if ?something is going to come down.?

Crews began dismantling the crane early Sunday morning high above Stamford. Portions of Washington Boulevard and Broad Street were closed off to traffic and pedestrians. The city expects the crane to be completely taken apart by Thursday morning.
