Public works crews in Milford are rushing to repair a popular beach damaged last year by Tropical Storm Irene. City officials say Woodmont Beach required 13,000 tons of sand to be replenished. Mayor Ben Blake, who spearheaded the project with Woodmont Borough Warden Ed Bonessi, says the beach has been destroyed in the past. "In 1992, the Army Corps of Engineers came in and they put a whole bunch of work into the beach," says Blake. The project cost more than $500,000, but city officials say 75 percent of the expenses will be covered by FEMA.
