A Redding animal rescue needs the public's help to give their animals a new home.
Sleepy Pig Farm is a finalist in Tractor Supply Co.'s "Rescue Your Rescue" contest.
Spouses Tiffany Paltauf and Joe Bonitatebus have been rescuing animals for years, but it was just a few months ago that they organized as a nonprofit. Now, Sleepy Pig Farm has a chance to win $25,000. Out of 25 contenders, eight will get the prize.
The rescue is currently headquartered in a rented Redding barn. Bonitatebus says the winnings would be a big help in buying a farm of their own.
"We can rescue more animals and have visitors and volunteers, and things like that," he said.
The couple says their dream is to help visitors think more about where their food comes from.
So far, they've found homes for 16 animals.
