(08/08/06) NEW HAVEN ? The Democratic gubernatorial primary in Connecticut has gone down to the wire with New Haven Mayor John DeStefano locked in a dead heat with Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy.
With 98 percent of the precincts reporting, DeStefano unofficially leads by a slight 51- to 49-percent margin. The winner of the primary will go up against Governor Jodi Rell (R-CT) in November.
Both men accentuated the positive aspects of their terms while leading their respective cities. Both outlined plans for universal health care and promised the creation of many jobs for residents.
