Advocates and opponents of a state minimum wage hike protested at the Capitol today as lawmakers discussed changing the figure. Supporters say the current hourly wage of $8.25 leaves low-wage workers below the poverty line. Those against the idea say the proposed jump to $9 in July would prevent small businesses from hiring. The bill would also increase the rate in 2013.
