News 12 is seeing Cyber Monday in action.
Are you online shopping? If you are, some of your purchases might start at the Amazon fulfillment center in Woodland Park.
“Biggest Black Friday on record. Every year, we seem to raise that bar,” said site leader Drew McCrossan.
The Amazon Robotics Fulfillment Center expects to exceed expectations on Cyber Monday. Orders at the Woodland Park center only go to consumers in New Jersey within a 50-mile radius. Some of the retailors are small businesses in the state.
“There are more than 60% sales from Amazon that are from independent sellers, small and medium size businesses. And another fun fact, 20,000 independent sellers in New Jersey alone," said regional manager Smitha Rao.
Deals on Cyber Monday range from electronics to health care to apparel.
“There's a great sense of urgency in same day – get the package delivered to the customer,” said McCrossan.
They will ship thousands of packages today and every day throughout the rest of the week.
“We’re expecting 30% year-over-year growth," said McCrossan.
The National Retail Federation predicts over 70 million people will participate in Cyber Monday.
“We prepare for this all year round, it’s really something everyone looks forward to,” said Rao.
This morning, the Woodland Park facility had the No. 1 same-day output in all of North America.
The work doesn’t stop today. Employees will continue the busy holiday season until Christmas. Then, holiday work continues, while they restock the supply through the end of January.
