Warm and humid with a passing shower or thunderstorm through Thursday

Keep the outdoor plans, but have a rain jacket or umbrella packed with you through tomorrow. A passing shower or thunderstorm is possible, but rain will be very hit and miss and both today and tomorrow will overall be more dry than wet.

Dry, warm and humid to start today. There can be an isolated shower or thunderstorm this afternoon, this evening and more of the same for Thursday, but these will be VERY hit and miss. Not everyone sees rain. Nice summer weather is still expected Friday through the weekend overall. Watching for dangerous surf and rip currents next week as Erin likely passes south and east of Long Island.
NWS ALERTS: No active watches, warnings, or advisories for Nassau or Suffolk Counties at this time.
TROPICS:
Tropical Storm Erin is well out to the east in the Atlantic and still expected to become a major hurricane this weekend. While it poses no direct threat to Long Island at this time, it will likely bring dangerous surf and rip currents next week. The News 12 Storm Watch Team will continue to monitor its track closely.
You will really feel the humidity over the next couple of days! Isolated shower and thunderstorm chances return, too today and tomorrow. Overall, expect a partly sunny sky. While that spotty shower or thunderstorm chance can pop up at any point this afternoon and through Thursday, the best chance will be toward this evening. Again, this will not completely ruin outdoor plans and not everyone sees rain. Rain and any thunderstorm will just be brushing by Long Island as they weaken, moving west to east. Most of the day will still be dry. Check the radar in the News 12 APP to see where any spotty rain pops up as you are on the go today!
It stays warm and humid tomorrow with that isolated shower or brief thunderstorm chance. Just like today, the day ends up more dry than wet.
By Friday, a push of drier air arrives. Humidity levels will be noticeable, but not unbearable Friday through the weekend. Outdoor plans this weekend are a go!
