Danbury police search for suspect in Stop & Shop robbery and kidnapping

Officers said they were dispatched to 72 Newtown Road around 5:30 p.m. where they met with a family that reported a person approached their vehicle with a handgun in the Stop & Shop parking lot.

Danbury police say a man robbed and kidnapped a family on Sunday.
Officers said they were dispatched to 72 Newtown Road around 5:30 p.m. where they met with a family that reported a person approached their vehicle with a handgun in the Stop & Shop parking lot.
The victims said the man ordered them to unlock the car. Once inside, he got into the rear driver’s seat and ordered the victim to drive to the Bank of America on Main Street and withdraw $500. The man also stole one victims iPhone.
The suspect is described as a Black male with a muscular build between the age of 30-40.
