A family is begging the public for help to find the person who killed a 29-year-old football coach in West Babylon during a summer party.
Danie Philstin was killed while walking two women to their car on Gordon Avenue in July 2021.
His grieving mother joined Suffolk police on Wednesday in hopes of finding justice.
"Danie was everything to me, he was my only son, please help me," Marie Rosenthal said.
Friends say the youth football coach, who lived in New Jersey, rarely attended parties but decided to go out that night with some friends.
"He was just there to have a good time, work hard, study hard - so for him to go that night and not make it back - it really hurts," said Hushai Fennell.
Police said the women who Philstin was walking with were verbally assaulted and groped.
As a result, a fight broke out with two of Philstin's friends and those accused of the harassment. When Philstin attempted to break up the fight, police believe another person not involved in the physical altercation took out a gun and shot him
Suffolk Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison says they have interviewed dozens of witnesses but that no one has come forward with any information yet.
There is up to a $5,000 fast cash reward for any information leading to an arrest.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
