A Darien senior community gave its residents a chance to celebrate Memorial Day with their families.

Decorated cars paraded past the Atria Senior Living Community of Ledge Road Monday.

Over a dozen cars were decorated by friends and families, and residents voted for their favorite cars.

Officials say they wanted to give seniors a way to honor veterans.

"It's just a great way for the families to participate with their veterans, and for the veterans to participate with their families," says Atria Executive Director Becky Gallucci. "We feel as though we are one big happy family here at Atria and it's events like this that really brings it together."
