A disabled veteran from Bridgeport is asking for the gift of life this Fourth of July.
For the better part of two years, News 12's Frank Recchia has been following the story of 60-year-old Martin Goodrich – a dialysis patient who's been on a roller-coaster journey and is now in desperate need of a kidney.
It looked so hopeful one year ago when News 12 Connecticut -- right in the middle of the pandemic -- helped the retired airman get his daughter to the U.S. from Jamaica so she could donate one of her kidneys.
But then at the last minute, all of his hopes came crashing down when a medical problem kept Martin's daughter from making that donation.
Now Martin is back to square one. He's hoping somebody will give him the independence of good health by donating one of their kidneys.
Anyone interested in donating a kidney can call (203) 394-2591.
