Gas prices these days are going up and down, but no matter which way they
go, you can have some control over how often you need to fill up your gas tank.
You can
start by keeping your tires inflated properly. Your car has a guide right on
the driver's door frame. Tires that aren't maintained can decrease your mileage by 5%
to 10%.
If your car
has an economy feature, leave it on. Dome cars have idle start and stop
technology. Others have an eco-button.
You may find them annoying, but turning them off will decrease your mileage by
another 5%.
Finally,
get organized. If you're driving around with a lot of stuff in the trunk,
you're depleting your mileage. Extra weight in the trunk will cost
you seven miles a gallon.
You should
also always stay up to date on your oil changes, don’t speed and pay with
cash at the pump.
