The Bridgeport Islanders game on Saturday will honor a beloved Fairfield hockey player and help save lives.

The game against the Providence Bruins will benefit Capalbo Strong.

The nonprofit was founded to support Charlie Capalbo, who was first diagnosed with cancer in 2017 when he was in high school.

Following five-year battle with lymphoma and leukemia, Capalbo died in 2022, a month before turning 24.

A portion of every ticket sold, along with a Chuck-a-Puck and a 50/50 raffle, will benefit the nonprofit which supports pediatric cancer research.

Each ticket purchased comes with a baseball cap, one free parking pass and 15% off at concession stands.

The Sacred Heart University Lemon Club will also hold a swabbing event and enter people ages 18 to 40 into the bone marrow registry program.

"It's very simple now, 90% of the actual procedure is a stem cell donation, like a simple blood donation. The other 10% is the bone marrow surgery. And I think it's completely worth it. I mean Will, Charlie's older brother, actually donated his bone marrow to keep Charlie alive for a few more years. So, I think it's really important," says club president Caitlyn Kownacki.
