Two Bridgeport police officers are being sued for allegedly violating a black driver's civil rights.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut says the driver was taking his two sons to get ice cream last May when he was pulled over for driving through a yellow light.

The organization says the officers searched the car without evidence of wrongdoing while the man's two frightened boys were in the back seat.

Bridgeport officials declined to comment on the lawsuit.
