An early morning fire severely damaged the inside of Arnold's Bakery Thrift Store on Hamilton Avenue in Greenwich.
Six fire departments responded to the scene at approximately 1:20 a.m. Firefighters say when they arrived, flames had already engulfed the roof.
Fire officials say the inside of the store is a total loss, but the outside structure is in sound condition. The adjacent factory, where Thomas? English muffins and Arnold breads are made, is OK, officials say.
?Inside we have total destruction. Everything inside is completely gone,? says John Fronio, the Greenwich fire inspector.
Fronio says the relief valves on two propane tanks next to the building released gas and shot flames into the air. Fire inspectors are still trying to determine what sparked the flames.
