up live at 6:08, the holiday season is in full gear, and that means a whole lot of Long Islanders are wanting to take the time to give back. And this morning, students at Eastport South Manor Junior Senior High School are taking part in the annual Stuff of school fundraiser. New South Jen Selig is there right now where those kids are up bright and early, Jen. They're up super early, Rich. It's an annual event here at the district's been going on for 14 years now, and with me I have the wonderful woman's ensemble, and I also have Cameron and Gaby and this is an event that you girls look forward to every school year, right? Yeah. So what is Stepha school? Stepha School is basically where the uni the community comes together and we all unite to bring in a whole bunch of gifts with charities and churches just to make every holiday special for every kid. And we're talking about baby clothes, food, assortment of clothing, toys, something for everyone. Why is it so important for you guys to do this? Well, I think that it really inspires our young generation to be cognizant and aware of their communities, and that people might be struggling, but we want to make sure that everybody has a good holiday, no matter what they celebrate. So important. So what's the goal here? Our goal here is just to make sure that every kid has an amazing Christmas and everyone is able to pitch in and grab something for someone to. I love it so much and we're gonna be talking with a bunch of different groups here at the district why they all want to get involved in this special holiday event so you're gonna want to stick around for that. I'm gonna send it back to you guys for now in the studio.

Gear and that means a whole lot of Long Islanders are taking the time to give back. We're seeing so many great things, including this morning with students at Eastport South Manor Junior Senior High School. They are taking part in the annual Stuff a school fundraiser. I mean, they're famous for this, and our Jen Selig is there right now talking to students and teachers and also hearing or maybe not hearing us hearing the gorgeous chorus behind you, Jen. Yeah guys, we got a lot going on here this morning. We're with the concert choir, the wind ensemble, symphonia, and also Camden and Katerina, and you ladies are with. This is so cool to be part of stuff the school. You guys have the Giving tree, and it's not no ordinary tree back there. It's a special tree. Yes, so we have festive tags on the tree, and each of them has an ID on it, and then the age and gender of the child and then the item that they wish to receive for Christmas and then so each student can take. Tag or multiple if they wish, and then we spread the holiday joy by bringing it in and giving a kid a merry Christmas. Is this for families across the island or families right here in the district? This is for families in the community. This is actually for the Eastport Bible Church, I think down by Eastport if I'm not mistaken, and we just want to give back to the community because I love my community and I think it's it's a great opportunity to give back what everyone, you know. In the community wants for sure you got one of the gifts right here. Why is it so special for the whole district to get involved in such a great annual event? It's so important because if you have the resources, it's important to give back to the community, as Katerina had said, and especially as honor society members, I think we're called upon to help our community out a little bit more, to show our character and to just give everybody what the community also gave us. Believe in everybody and really just give back to enjoy the Christmas times because these are the most festive times and it's really about the unity in the community that I love to see. What a great answer getting all into the holiday spirit, especially with the music going on behind us. I know you guys got a lot of friends back there, so we're gonna send it back to you guys in the studio and hang out here a little bit longer. I, I don't know what I love more, Jen. The answer, the music behind you, the ambiance, the fire in the back, incredible. What a great job by that district. Thank you.

Newsal's Jen Selig is there right now, and they have been doing a great job all morning, Jen. Rich, there is so much talent here and they're doing it all for a great thing. It's an annual event going on for 14 years and now I got the Sharkquettes with me, Harper and Lillian, senior and freshmen. So who are you guys, you guys are doing a toy drive. Who are you doing it for? We collect for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Long Island. Why that organization and group? Um, they're just amazing because they have a one on one mentoring program. And we could just help spread holiday cheer. I love it and we got the show choir behind us putting on a great performance and you guys put on great performances as well. It's just all getting into the holiday spirit, right? Yeah, so school is a wonderful way to spread joy and make a positive impact on children and families in need. I love it I love it. This is your first year doing this, Harper. I've been doing this in 7th grade. So what keeps making you want to do it every year? I just love performing for people and I love being able to share some toys and clothes and have everyone have presents under their tree. How do you pick your toys? What was that? Like how do you pick the toys? Do you guys fundraise and then people get the toys for you because we have all different assortment here. Lots of people come and donate them as well as clothes. We're gonna stick around here and Big Brothers and Big Sisters is coming here today to pick up all the toys, all great things back to you guys in the studio and it's so great we can hear that choir behind you. They do such a great job, Jen, thank you.
