Stratford firefighters were on the scene of an early morning fire on Buckskin Lane.

Firefighters say when they arrived at the home, they found flames shooting from the roof.

An elderly woman who lived at the residence was told by the firefighters that her home was on fire.

Firefighters were able to get her out safely before sending her to the hospital for evaluation. 

The department says a team effort saved the woman's life.

The woman is being treated for smoke inhalation and other minor injuries. 

The Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
