The popular IMAX theater here at the Maritime Aquarium is closing to make way for a staging area for equipment to replace the existing railroad bridge.
The IMAX has been at the location since the late 80s and showed all kinds of movies. It was popular with school kids.
"It's sort of the end of an era for us here," says Dave Sigworth, of the Maritime Aquarium. "We're working to open a 4D movie thater in just a couple weeks so while we're sorry to see this go, we're excited about the opportunities that the new theater's going to present to us."
The new 4D theater will be located near the main entrance.
Aquarium officials say the last showings at the IMAX will be Monday.
