The former director of the Stamford Animal Shelter appeared in court today.
Laurie Hollywood pleaded not guilty to reckless endangerment charges. Police say she oversaw improper dog adoptions.
Protesters turned out to the Stamford Courthouse show their support for Hollywood.
City officials claim Hollywood did not report dogs with a history of biting. She is also accused of falsifying documents to place them in homes.
City officials say they fired Hollywood because "she broke the law and put the public in danger."
The judge granted the request from Hollywood's attorney to review all of the city records pertaining to the case, including animal shelter documents that were allegedly falsified.
Hollywood is due back in court on Aug. 12.
