A New Hyde Park couple found themselves surrounded by two large German shepherds on Halloween.
The frightening dog attack was caught on camera and has some in the community worried about another possible incident.
Lin Fang and her husband were out gardening when she says they were surrounded by her neighbor's dogs.
Fang had a broom and her husband had a shovel as the German shepherds approached them.
"I try to protect myself, of course, I was screaming out loud," Fang says. "I was so terrified because he opened his jaw."
The dogs belong to Claudia Nemeyer, who lives directly across Stephan Marc Lane.
Fang and another one of her neighbors want the dogs taken away.
Nemeyer told News 12 over the phone that her dogs are not dangerous and only got out this one time when a door was accidently left open.
"The dog was barking, and I know he's a big boy and he can be intimidating - but he's as gentle as a lamb," Nemeyer says.
However, another neighbor who didn't want to speak on camera says that one of Nemeyer's dogs bit her son in 2014. However, it is not known if that dog is one of the dogs seen in the video.
Nemeyer says she got the dogs after a fire in her home in 2016 and that these dogs have never bitten anyone.
Fang, meanwhile, says she is afraid every day because of the incident.
"I have this kind of anxiety and I have a headache, and when I went out, I just feel nervous," Fang says. "Even I hear a dog bark right now, I feel like shivering."
The Fangs have complained to the Town of North Hempstead and a town attorney told them they will have a court hearing regarding the dogs.
The town has not returned phone calls made by News 12.
