Tweed New Haven Airport officials say a passenger tried to bring a fake grenade through security Wednesday morning.
They say the checkpoint at the departures terminal was shut down at 8:30 a.m. for about an hour. The terminal has since reopened.
The spokesman said the Transportation Security Administration turned the matter over to the New Haven police, who secured the area and then cleared the area once they determined the level of the threat.
