After 18 years as head of Bridgeport Rescue Mission, executive director Terry Wilcox has announced his retirement.

During Wilcox’s time as executive director, the organization has become one of the state's leading providers of food, shelter and addiction recovery programs.

The board has formed a search committee tasked with finding a successor.

Wilcox's last day at the faith-based nonprofit will be Oct. 31.
