A Fairfield beauty school cut off operations, surprising people enrolled there, the students say.
Former students from Marinello Beauty Academy say they've been scrambling for a solution ever since the abrupt shutdown this week.
Many have reached out to another beauty school in Bridgeport to see if they can enroll, but the Millennium Academy of Hair does not accept financial aid.
The state's Higher Education Office and federal officials have stepped in to obtain students' transcripts and financial records in an effort to help sort things out.
Sen. Chris Murphy says the federal Department of Education has the power to forgive federal student loan debt for the students.
Officials are urging former students to reach out to the state's Higher Education Office through its website.
