Some local Girl Scouts say they're feeling empowered to be the next generation of leaders after visiting Fairfield Town Hall.
The Fairfield Girl Scout Service Unit met with managers from different departments Wednesday, including the health, building and finance departments.
Girl Scout Emma Braden says she learned "how they manage the money in the town."
The first selectwoman also greeted the Girl Scouts before they visited the police and fire departments.
"A lot of movies about police, and I want to know if that's actually how they do it and how they find out things," Girl Scout Shadyn Warsy said.
Warsy says a good leader should consider everyone's opinions when making decisions. Braden adds it's important to be kind to everyone.
The two told News 12 they'd like to be leaders someday.
"I like helping people," Braden said.
The Fairfield Girl Scout Service Unit Girl is open to students in fifth grade and up. Girl Scouts in Government Day has been taking place for around 20 years.
