A disabled homeowner in Fairfield is thanking the police, neighbors and News 12 for helping to catch the driver who damaged her property and took off Monday night.
There is not much left of Irene Magyar's fence -- there are shattered sections scattered across the yard and tire marks on the lawn of the Melville Avenue home.
"I understand that you may be scared and may be upset, but I am disabled and this is devastating to me," says Magyar. "I have to pay that deductible and even that is hard for me ... I could use help, do the right thing."
But someone saw Magyar's story on News 12 and called police after spotting a blue sedan with suspicious damage in Bridgeport and enabling police to crack the case.

“We were able to take parts of the car that were at the crime scene and match them up perfectly like a puzzle,” says Robert Kalamaras, of the Fairfield Police Department.
Magyar says this isn't the first time a car has crashed into the fence of the home that sits on the foot of a hill. But she says in past incidents, the drivers remained at the scene.
“It was just one of those days where an angel was sitting in my shoulder,” says Magyar. “I am so grateful and I really don't think I can ever thank News 12, the police department or my neighbors enough.”
