Fairfield police have identified a surveyor fatally struck by a car outside an office building Wednesday.

Police say Stephen Brynn, 59, was working near a storm drain in the driveway of the building when the car crashed into him. 

It happened at 2150 Post Road around 9 a.m. Police say the driver, a 19-year-old woman, stayed on scene and called 911.

Police are reconstructing the crash to determine what caused it and if any charges will be filed.

"Our investigators have extensive training on this, and they'll do everything they can to bring closure to the family and to also provide details to us to ensure if there's any violation of law," Lt. Michael Paris said.

The property management company told News 12 it had no comment.
