Fairfield police are warning local businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit money that has been used in several shops.
Officials say at least five businesses received fake $100 bills within the last month, including the Fairfield University Bookstore.
Sgt. Suzanne Lussier says high-tech digital and laser printers are making counterfeiting a lot easier.
The suspect who passed the fake bills is described as a short man with facial hair. He was seen driving a white SUV, police say.
The fake bills will be passed to the U.S. Secret Service, which investigates counterfeiting.
