Friday marked the one-year anniversary of the unsolved murder of a Fairfield teenager.

Fairfield Warde High School senior Kyle Schneider was discovered dead of a gunshot wound to the head inside his home last year. Friends marked the sad anniversary by gathering beside his former school parking spot. The spot has turned into a memorial to Schneider, with mourners placing photographs, flowers and candles at the space over the past year.

Fairfield police say the investigation into Schneider's slaying has progress, but there is not a lot of information ready at this point to release.

"I would love to be able to share with people what we believe to be the exact cause and reasons why, but to do it prematurely would really hurt the investigation," Deputy Chief Gary MacNamara says.
