A Fairfield woman says her dream came true Thursday when she delivered more than $15,000 worth of education supplies to a school in Bridgeport.
Jimeale Hede started out as a volunteer reading to the kids at Cesar Batalla School. She then decided to help in a more concrete way. She started a GoFundMe page and raised thousands of dollars to provide school supplies to students.
She says she wanted to buy supplies to enhance the educational experiences of the hundreds of students who attend the school - and it didn't cost taxpayers a single penny.
The money Hede raised paid for supplies like pencil cases and backpacks.
The school's Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz says she has never seen volunteers do anything like this.
Hede says donating the money to the school brings her joy.
