Families Belong Together immigration rally held in Stamford
Stamford was among many cities nationwide where “Families Belong Together” rallies were being held Saturday over the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
Hundreds gathered in Stamford Saturday morning to listen to speakers and protest the policy that led to migrant families being separated at the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Department of Homeland Security says there are still more than 2,000 kids that have not been reunited with their families.
Many attendees said they feel connected to the issue because their parents or they themselves are immigrants.
"I'm a mother, and I'm a child of an immigrant, and it's wrong. There's no justification for separating families and putting kids in cages. There's so many other ways to solve these problems," said Renee Bea, of Darien.
President Trump tweeted out his support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the many rallies.
