Stamford police say a family from Stratford called them over the weekend to say they believe the skulls that turned up at the city dump last week belong to them.
The family says skulls were stolen from a family mausoleum 10 years ago.
Police say they are now doing DNA tests to determine if the skulls are the same ones that were stolen.
The skulls were found at the city's transfer station Thursday next to books on Satan and the occult.
The skulls were traced back to a man from Fairfield who recently died.
The man's father says his son purchased the skulls and did not do anything wrong.
