Family of New Britain woman struck and killed by police SUV files wrongful death lawsuit

The family of Katherine Colon, the New Britain woman struck and killed by a police SUV, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

The lawsuit is against the officer, the department and the city of New Britain.

The crash happened in September in New Britain near West Main Street.

Troopers said New Britain Officer Connor Reinsch fatally struck Colon as she was trying to cross the street.

The officer was responding to a call and was going 60 mph in a 25 mph zone with no lights or sirens, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit calls Reinsch’s actions “negligent” and “careless.”
