The family of a Bridgeport woman who was fatally shot says it is grateful after the accused killer was caught in Ohio.
Brianna McKoy, 23, was killed almost two weeks ago.
The family says the arrest of her alleged killer, 41-year-old Derrick Francis, in Ohio this week is bittersweet because while they're grateful he's in custody, they say the arrest cannot bring back their loved one.
The Bridgeport Firebirds — an organization of minority firefighters — met with the family Wednesday morning to help with a fundraising effort for Zander, McKoy's 16-month-old son.
The group says it wants to help because some of its members responded to the call the night of the slaying.
The family says it's grateful for the outpouring of public support.
