Traditional high school rivalry football games played on Thanksgiving Day could soon be ending.

The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference announced last week the traditional rivalry games held on Thanksgiving Day would be moved up a week in favor of holding the league championship on that day. 

There was an immediate backlash among many coaches, players and parents. 

According to a high-ranking official with the FCIAC, an electronic vote is being held today that could determine if the games will stay put.
