State Senator Bill Finch (D-Bridgeport) captured the Democratic nomination in the Bridgeport mayoral race Monday, but he still faces competition from within his own party.
State Rep. Chris Caruso (D-Bridgeport) has vowed to continue his mayoral quest even though Finch got the Democratic nod.
Finch?s nomination was announced at Monday?s Democratic Convention. ?If people vote for a Finch administration, they are going to have lower property taxes and better schools,? Finch said after receiving his party?s endorsement.
In order to jump on the ballot for the September 11 primary, Caruso must obtain 1,100 signatures. Representatives from Caruso?s campaign said they will have 100 people working the streets to collect all necessary signatures.
?I will change this city,? said Caruso. ?That's what the city wants, that's what the people want and that's what we'll do.?
