Students from across western Connecticut learned about stock market trading this week by participating in a unique event in Hartford.
FinTron Incorporated, a Stamford investment service, hosted "The FinTron Stock Market Challenge" at Goodwin University.
Organizers say the interactive, simulated stock market trading game will give 200 students from across the state a chance to win a $2,000 grand prize.
"It's really fun for them. They get to test out their investing skills they've learned in their finance classes, and they get to trade with their friends," says FinTron Educational Ambassador Owen Lentner.
"In districts, there's really not a way to administer financial education, so through that, we're actually seeing the effect of the software that we're introducing to students, what it has, the applicable skills they're learning in financial literacy, personal finance and career readiness," says FinTron CAO Adam Pulcyn.
He adds FinTron is on a mission to bridge what he calls "a financial literacy gap in American schools."
