A fire broke out inside a Bridgeport restaurant Friday night, but the owners were able to control the blaze before anyone was injured.
Fire officials say by the time they arrived at the scene, the owners of Terra Brasilis Restaurant on North Avenue had evacuated all of the diners. They say the blaze started inside the external ductwork of the building.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames, but before the restaurant can reopen, the Board of Health must inspect it to determine if further repairs are necessary.
"As is typical with all restaurant fires, the Board of Health will come out and inspect to make sure that everything is good for them to be up and operating again," Capt. Kyle Gardiner, of the Bridgeport Fire Dept., says.
Fire officials say none of the apartments above the restaurant were damaged, and no one was hurt.
