Westport firefighters say they rushed to a multi-family home on Post Road East after a fire started in a kitchen last night.
The chief says residents were forced out into the cold temperatures around 10:30 p.m..
A sprinkler system in the kitchen went off and contained the fire, but the chief says there was still plenty of smoke and water damage to the home.
The Red Cross is providing temporary assistance to the families affected.
