A large house fire tore through a home in Monroe early Tuesday.
Officials say they received calls from neighbors to 39 Downs Road shortly after midnight.
It took fire crews around an hour to control the flames. They say they faced some challenges due to the fact that the house was in a non-hydrant area without a lot of room for tanker trucks.
"Unfortunately it's a very narrow road with limited access, and we had to call mutual aid for tankers," Deputy Chief John Howe says. "We have two tankers and we also called Oxford and Newtown."
Howe says firefighters remained on the scene until about 8 a.m. Tuesday putting out hot spots.
Officials say the home was empty at the time of the blaze because it was under construction.
