Police departments in the state are reporting a large increase in the number of complaints about fireworks.
News 12’s Justin DeVellis was at the Stamford Fire Department Friday where officials say many of those who purchased fireworks this year are first-time buyers and should be careful.
They say 28% of all firework related injuries are from sparklers, which burn at approximately 1,500 degrees Fahrenheit.
They believe the surge in complaints could be related to canceled firework shows and from people being cooped up due to COVID-19.
