A new shuttle bus service is bridging the gap between the Randall's Island Connector and the South Bronx.
Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday for the debut of the free bus, designed by nonprofits New York Restoration Project and Healthfirst.
Organizers say the bus is a major milestone for the Haven Project, a plan to improve the quality of life of south Bronx residents by creating a network of connected open spaces for them to use.
The bus will be making a total of nine scheduled stops on weekends in the summer from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Pickups will start at Walnut Avenue and East 136th Street at the Randall's Island Connector.
