State and local leaders in Bridgeport are kicking off a fundraising effort for a disabled man wants to become more independent.
Lee Green, 60, has been confined to a wheelchair ever since he was shot at the age of 11.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal encouraged people to support his GoFundMe campaign for a wheelchair-accessible van.
Sen. Blumenthal says Green has worked hard his entire life, despite being disabled.
"My greatest hope, really, is to go back to work – get a vehicle where I can get around, be more independent,” says Green.
Green says he's on medical leave from Home Depot, where he's worked for many years.
