The Goshen Center School community held a special remembrance ceremony for a kindergartner who died from a brain tumor.
Doctors diagnosed James Fitzgerald, 6, with cancer just after Christmas. He died this weekend.
"He fought as hard as he could, and he didn't have to suffer for long like some people do," said Beth Fitzgerald, his mother. "I'm just so grateful that he's up there watching down on us, the best guardian angel a mom could ever ask for."
The youngster was a big fan of Superman and sometimes wore a cape to school, so students and teachers wore superhero outfits in his honor Tuesday.
The principal even unveiled two new seesaws on the playground in James' name. Supporters have also set up a GoFundMe campaign in his honor.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday in Roxbury.
