Gov. Ned Lamont says he wants people off the roads during today's major snowstorm.
Metro North says it will end its service to Connecticut at 3 p.m. because of the storm.
There is a ban on empty tractor-trailers and tandem trucks on all limited access highways and all tractor trailers are prohibited from travel on Interstate 84.
Lamont says COVID-19 vaccine deliveries will be made today to clinics and hospitals, despite the storm.
He says it's critical to keep the doses cold.
Lamont says they've had to re-schedule "a lot" of appointments, but he says there's no risk of any vaccine doses going bad as long as they stay refrigerated.
He says hospitals have back-up power for that.
Lamont says so far, state officials haven't had to shut down any major roads, but that could change if white-out conditions happen this afternoon.
During a press conference this morning, the governor says state officials also need residents off the roads now.
"While all the roads are open now, let's see what happens going forward. I would head home; I'd head home now. If you came by bus or train, right now those are all still open. We'll see what happens later," he says.
Some public transport across the state have been suspended, including the Metro-North trains. The trains into New York ended at 2 p.m., and the last train from New York leaves at 3 p.m.
As for buses, Bridgeport Transit service is suspended as well as some CT Transit lines. More information can be found on the CT Transit Twitter.
